词源	Athens. According to the myth, when Cecrops founded a great city in Attica, the Greeks offered to name it for the god who gave them the most valuable gift. Poseidon gave them the horse, but Athena stuck her spear in the ground and an olive tree rose from the earth. Because she gave them this greatest gift of all, the city was named in her honor. In any event, the city is assuredly named for the goddess.
