Final Solution. A translation of German endgultige Losung, these words were a euphemism for the Nazi program for anni- hilating all Jews in Europe during the Third Reich. This mass murder policy, the Nazi answer to “the Jewish Question” or “the Jewish Problem,” apparently began in 1941, and the mass extermination, with the introduction of gas chambers and cre- matoriums, might have succeeded if the war hadn’t ended when it did. See holocaust; ethnic cleansing. |
