词汇 | youse |
词源 | youse. A very common word used primarily in New York but heard in other eastern cities and even in the Midwest. Youse—the so-called generous plural—is usually employed when a speaker is referring to the second person plural, helping the speaker differ- entiate between one person in the group and the group as a whole. It is the New York counterpart of the southern y’all. Youse is also a feature of Irish speech, as is yis (“Is he in there with yis?”) |
