词源 | across the board. Around 1935, racetrack combination tick- ets naming a horse to win, place, or show—giving a bettor three chances to win—began to be called across-the-board bets. Since then, the term has been widely used outside the racetrack to mean “comprehensive, general, all inclusive.” |
