Ecce Homo. In Latin Ecce Homo means “Behold the man.” The words were said by Pontius Pilate to the people after he brought forth Jesus wearing the crown of thorns and purple robe, as told in John 19:5. Ecce Homo is also the name of the many paintings of Christ crowned with thorns and bound by ropes, some of them masterpieces by the likes of Titian, Van Dyck, and Rembrandt. |
