词源 | deoch-an-doris. One of the few Gaelic expressions that is widely known today, at least among the Irish, Scottish, and British to a lesser extent. It means a farewell drink. From the Gaelic for “drink at the door,” it is also called doch-an-dorach. The ancient Roman counterpart to the term is a parting cup. See stirrup cup. |
