词源	credenza. In the Middle Ages servants of the nobility were expected to taste a master’s food and wine before serving him, to help prevent their employer from being poisoned. This of course gave confidence or trust (credenza in Italian) to the master, and since the food or wine to be served at table was placed on the sideboard before being tested, the sideboard itself came to be called a credenza.
