nautilus (n.)

鹦鹉螺，约1600年，源自拉丁语 nautilus，在普林尼的著作中是一种海蜗牛（包括鱿鱼、乌贼、珊瑚等），来自希腊语 nautilos “纸鹦鹉螺”，字面意思是“水手”，是 nautēs “水手”的诗歌形式，来自 naus “船”（来自 PIE 词根 *nau- “船”）。从亚里士多德到19世纪，人们认为鹦鹉螺使用其有膜的触手在海面上航行，因此得名。
