exploitation (n.)

1803年，“某物的生产性工作”，是最早使用它的人们中的一个积极词汇，尽管被认为是法国用语，源自法语 exploitation，是 exploiter 的动作名词（参见 exploit（v.））。1830年代至1850年代发展出了负面含义，部分原因是受法国社会主义著作（尤其是圣西门）的影响，也可能受到美国反奴隶制写作中使用该词的影响； exploitation 曾经被用作赞美的词汇，但现在被用作侮辱性词汇。
