| 词源 | clue. Tracing clue, or clew, back in time we find that it first meant (in about 1393) “a ball of yarn or thread.” Two centuries passed and clues, balls of thread, began to be used to guide peo- ple “threading” their way out of garden labyrinths or mazes. This soon led to the use of the word clue for something that “points the way, indicates a solution, or puts one on the track of a discovery or solving a mystery.” |
