词源	Cushing’s syndrome. A disease caused by the malfunc- tion of the adrenal glands; its symptoms include obesity and high blood pressure. It was named after American brain sur- geon Harvey Williams Cushing (1869–1939). Cushing, a leading medical writer as well, was also honored with a Pu- litzer Prize in 1925 for his biography of Sir William Osler. See oslerize.
