词汇 | pittsburghese |
词源 | Pittsburghese. Pittsburgh, often called Pixburgh and D’burg, doesn’t seem the ideal place for an extensive regional vocabu- lary, but the Steel City has one of the most colorful. For exam- ple, yinz is the Pittsburgh way to say y’all, and a yinzer is a Pix- burger with a strong local accent. Among others, neb means to stick one’s nose in somebody else’s business, a poke is a bag, gum band is a rubber band, sputzie is a sparrow, a roller is a rul- er, and Mon is the Monongahela River. See y’all. |
