A nickname bestowed upon Mafia boss Vin- cent Gigante (1928–2005) whose strange behavior was adopted to convince New York law enforcement agents that he was a harmless disturbed person. The Oddfather’s nickname was Chin among mobsters. He was also called the Enigma in a Bathrobe, after his practice of shuffling through the streets of Greenwich Village late at night wearing pajamas, bathrobe, and slippers. |
