词源 | cestus. Cestus refers to a leather belt covered with metal spikes and studs that was wrapped around the fists of Greek gladiators when they stood toe-to-toe in arenas and fought to the death. The greatest cestus “boxer” was Theagenes of Thasos, said to have maimed or killed all 1,425 of his opponents. |
