词源 | Shangri-la. This word, for “a paradise on earth,” came into the language in 1933, when English novelist James Hilton pub- lished his novel Lost Horizon, which described a hidden para- dise named Shangri-la. The name was used during World War II for the secret base from which U.S. planes flew to bomb Hi- roshima and Nagasaki. The secret base was Tinian Island in the Mariannas. |
