| 词源 | bullshit. Utter nonsense, a flagrant, outrageous lie. This American expletive is first recorded in 1914 but is almost cer- tainly a century or more older. Common euphemisms for it in- clude bull, bushwa, and BS. Flinging, slinging, and throwing the bull is done by a bullshit artist—and much less commonly, a Spanish athlete. “I enclose a prize sample of bullshit,” James Joyce wrote in a 1914 letter to Ezra Pound.
