词源 | Scrabble. The word game’s name was coined by unemployed architect Alfred Mosher Butts when he invented the game in 1931. Scrabble he said, stood for players “digging” for letters, part of game strategy. Two to four players in this popular game use counters of letters with various point value to build words on a playing board. The highest competition score in the game is 1,049, a record set in 1989. |
