| 词源 | Goody Two Shoes. Once upon a time in about 1765, a girl named Goody lost her shoe, which may not mean much to you. But then you didn’t have to hop around on one foot and hear people laughing at you, and always need a pedicure. So Goody hung in there and was so good that some people thought her part of a moralistic nursery tale. But no matter. Someone who had a spare shoe gave it to Goody and Oliver Goldsmith wrote up her story and Goody lived happily ever after. No one has ever figured out how her name came to mean a quite priggish person. She was a good old girl. |
