词源 | Esperanto II and others. Esperanto II, Ido, and Nov Esperanto are simpler offshoots of Esperanto—indeed, the word Ido is the Esperanto word for “offspring.” All in all, some 700 artificial languages have been invented. Notable ones besides those al- ready mentioned include Basic English, invented by linguists I. A. Richards and C. K. Ogden, which has a vocabulary of only 850 words but is rather unwieldy (“winged machine for flight” is the phrase for “airplane”); Novial, invented in 1928 by Dan- ish philologist Otto Jespersen; Latino Sine Flexions, which de- rives from classical Latin; Interlingua, developed over a period of 25 years by the International Auxiliary Language Associa- tion; the Gibson Code, another language that uses numbers in- stead of words; Monling, which employs only monosyllabic words; and Lincos, a truly universal language composed of sci- entific symbols that is translatable into the binary code and could be transmitted to any place in the universe! Still other ar- tificial languages, should you want to find out more about them, are Mandolingo, Volapuk, Idiom Neutral (simplified Volapuk), Veriparl, Bopal, Dil, Balta, Ro, Neo, Loglan, Arulo, Suma, Latinesce, Gloro, Universal, Interglossa, Nordlinn, Lanque Bleue, and Romanal. |
