词汇 | slip |
词源 | slip. Slip, as in “She’s a mere slip of a girl,” that is, she’s small and thin, may derive from sliver, which comes from Middle En glish slivere. Or it may derive from the Middle Dutch slippe, which also gives us the word for any long, narrow strip; a small piece of paper; a scion or plant cutting. |
