词源	eight-hour day; five-day week. Henry Ford brought atten- tion to the eight-hour day and five-day week for workers in 1926 when he instituted them at the Ford Motor Company plant in Detroit. However, a small number of workers had worked such hours before this, and the former term is recorded a quarter- century earlier.
