| 词源 | slammer. Slammer had been slang for “a door” before it be- came a slang synonym for “prison” in the 1930s. Both terms, of course, refer to the slamming of doors, in the last case the slamming shut of all the metal doors in a cellblock at the same time. See also hoosegow-jug. |
