词源 | shoulder candy. Candy, or eye candy, for a sexy young wom- an is documented as dating back to about 1968, but I haven’t seen shoulder candy in any dictionary. The term is defined in a New York Times Magazine column (11/24/96) by John Tierney: “Models are visual bait,” says David Jones, a gossip reporter at the Daily News. . . . “Even the serious playboys, the rich guys who live to chase models, often aren’t that interested in sex. They mainly want their fellow wolves to see them walk in with a model. The term they use is ‘shoulder candy.’ ” |
