词汇 | mickey finn |
词源 | Mickey Finn. This term, for “a powdered knockout drug or purgative slipped into a drink to render its drinker unconscious or otherwise helpless,” seems to have originated in Chicago in the late 19th century and has been attributed to a gangland fig- ure named Mickey Finn, remembered for his sleight of hand but nothing else. The original Mickey Finn is said to have been a laxative commonly used for horses. Possibly some unknown bartender named Mickey actually administered it, but one guess is as good as another here. |
