Father of American Football. While serving as a member of the Intercollegiate Football Rules Committee for 48 years, Wal- ter Chauncey Camp (1859–1925) was responsible for so many rules governing American football that he can truly be said to have laid the foundations for the modern game. The Yale coach was being called the Father of American Football by 1920, five years before his death at one of the committee meetings. |
