Wyatt Earp. A fabled gunfighter; after Wyatt Barry Stapp Earp (1848–1929), most famous for his part in the 1879 gun- fight at the O.K. Corral in Tombstone, Arizona. Considered quick on the draw (from a leather-lined, waxed coat pocket), Earp was never bested and died quietly in his sleep, one of the two legendary western gunfighters who definitely didn’t meet a violent end (Bat Masterson was the other). |
