Though they are now made in Toronto, the tasty chocolate-covered Mallomar cookie, a U.S. favorite since it first was sold in 1913 in New Jersey, sells 70 percent of its product in the Northeast. Mallomars are, of course, fashioned from marshmallow, one of its ingredients. And Mallomars are plural, not singular—because, as a food historian explains, “That’s what’s trademarked.” |
