词汇 | king-s english |
词源 | King’s English. Several English kings didn’t speak English, but this term has nevertheless meant “proper English, English as it should be spoken,” since the mid-16th century. It was used by Shakespeare in The Merry Wives of Windsor (1600) and three centuries earlier Chaucer wrote “God save the king, that is lord of this language.” |
