Ra. The ancient Egyptian sun god, the supreme deity depicted as a man with the head of a hawk crowned with a solar disk. Ra is also called Mantu and Atmu. His children were Athor, Moat, Mu, and Shu. An old poem by Keith Preston mentions Ra: “The great god Ra whose shrine once covered acres / Is filler now for crossword puzzle makers.” |
