词源	Croatan. A person of mixed Indian, white, and black ancestry living mainly in North Carolina. The name is objectionable to many of these people, who, however, at first asked to be called Croatan Indians after Sir Walter Raleigh’s lost colony of Croatan off North Carolina. They consider the name “Cro” given to them by blacks and whites in the area even more offensive.
