casino (n.)

1744年，意为“音乐或舞蹈的公共场所”，源自意大利语 casino，字面意思为“小房子”，是 casa “房子”的小型形式，源自拉丁语 casa “小屋、小木屋、小茅屋”，其起源不确定。这个纸牌游戏（也叫 cassino）的名称可以追溯到1792年。1820年首次在意大利背景下特指“贵族赌博的建筑物”。
