jenny. A jenny is the female of certain animals, especially a female donkey. James Truslow Adams wrote in The Epic of America (1933): “[The Spaniards] shipped in so many horses and jennies for breeding mules that within a few generations these were running wild all over the country and were hunted instead of being bred.” Jenny is also the name of the Curtis training biplane of World War I. No one knows if a real Jenny lent her name to ei- ther of these words. See mule. |
