词源	penny-farthing. Over four feet tall, this bicycle was more properly called the Ariel Highwheeler. Its name the penny-farthing was suggested by two common British coins (one suggesting the huge front wheel and the other suggesting the little rear wheel). The French velocipede, nicknamed bone shaker, suggested the design of the penny-farthing. See also hobby-horses.
