词源	Caesar cipher. In his secret communications Caesar simply wrote down the third letter following the one he meant (thus in English today the letter A would be D and the word dog would be GRJ). Though this elementary cipher or substitution code was used long before him, cryptologists still call it the Caesar cipher. His successor, Augustus Caesar, made the process even simpler, merely substituting the letter immediately following the one he meant, which enabled him to write in code as quick- ly as he could in normal letters.
