Mein Kampf. The bible of National Socialism, which was written by German dictator Adolf Hitler while he was confined for 13 months in the fortress of Landsberg. Among the many gems of hate spewed over the book (chapter 14): “In starting and waging a war it is not right that matters, but victory.” Hit- ler’s original title for the book was Four-and-a-Half Years of Struggle Against Lies, Stupidity, and Cowardice. Much later this inspired Time magazine critic Timothy Foote to observe, “Eve- ryone needs an editor.” |
