McDonald’s. In recent times the trademark name of the American fast-food restaurant has become almost as well-known as o.k. and the trademark coke, mainly because McDonald’s has franchises throughout the world. Often McDonald’s is a syno- nym for a hamburger. The Japanese have borrowed the name from English and altered it slightly to Makudonarudo. The origi- nal McDonald’s (which no longer exists) was on E Street in San Bernardino, California. The original McDonald brothers sold all but three of their stores to Ray Kroc. These three, now owned by the “Pep Boys” (Manny, Moe, and Jack), are the world’s only legal non-Kroc McDonald’s. |
