| 词源 | flatearthers. Some people still refuse to accept that the Earth is a sphere and rotates around the sun. One such group is the International Flat Earth Research Society in Lancaster, California. Founded in 1888, this society of flatearthers has 1,600 members accepting its tenets: that the Earth is flat, that the Sun and planets revolve around the Earth, and that the theory about the Earth being a sphere is a gigantic hoax. Says the society’s president, Charles J. Johnson: “Ever since Co- pernicus, the new religion-science, they call it—has been trying to fool the people with their notion that the earth is a ball. . . .
