词汇 | anchor-s aweigh |
词源 | “Anchor’s Aweigh.” Anchor’s aweigh, my boys, anchor’s aweigh. Farewell to college joys, we sail at break of day! Through our last night on shore, Drink to the foam, Until we meet once more Here’s wishing you a happy voyage home. These are the words to “Anchor’s Aweigh” that were commonly sung by sailors during World War II. Although they are ac- cepted as the lyrics of the song by almost everyone today, they are far different from the original words to this official march- ing song of the U.S. Navy, which was composed for the 1906 Army-Navy football game, music by Charles A. Zimmerman and lyrics by Alfred H. Miles. See army air corps. |
