词源	snooty adj. "proud, arrogant," 1918 (it was noticed that year as among the college slang), from snoot (n.) + -y (2). Perhaps with echoes of snouty "insolent, overbearing" (1858). The notion is perhaps "looking down one's nose" (at someone or something). Related: Snootily; snootiness. Entries linking to snooty snoot n. Originally added to nouns in Old English; used from 13c. with verbs, and by 15c. even with other adjectives (for example crispy).
