词汇 | pesky |
词源 | pesky. Troublesome or annoying. The word, first recorded about 1765, may come from England’s Essex dialect, which also gives us scrimp and snicker. However, Ernest Weekley’s An Ety- mological Dictionary of Modern English (1921) says pesky is an Americanism based on “pest.” |
