词源 | unmuzzled. British prime minister Gladstone used unmuz- zled in 1865 to describe a former government officeholder no longer restrained from speech by his position. Shakespeare was the first to use the word figuratively (it had been used previous- ly of dogs) in As You Like It (1599): “Ay, marry, now unmuzzle your wisdom.” |
