词汇 | interloper |
词源 | interloper [L16th] An interloper was originally an unauthorized trader trespassing on the rights of a trade monopoly. The word was coined in the late 16th century, and is truly a hybrid. The first element derives from Latin inter ‘between, among’, while the second is extracted from landloper, an old word for a vagabond or tramp taken from Dutch. |
