词汇 | cusp |
词源 | cusp [L16th] When we say someone is on the cusp of something we mean that they are at a point of transition between two states. This probably comes from the astrological use of cusp as the term for the division between one astrological sign and another. The word comes from Latin cuspis, meaning ‘a point’, and can also be applied to the pointed end where two curves meet, such as the tip of a crescent moon. |
